Kenyam Nduga, mediakompas86.com – The Infantry Battalion Task Force (Satgas Yonif) Para Raider 503/Mayangkara Kostrad, as part of the HABEMA Command Operation Unit in Papua, conducted a Border Security Operation along the RI-PNG Mobile border, specifically in Nduga Regency, Papua Highlands Province. On Thursday, December 12, 2024, Satgas Yonif 503 Kostrad carried out a routine Social Communication (Komsos) activity with the residents of Kemali Village, Kenyam District, while simultaneously conducting a security patrol. During the patrol, the soldiers met Mr. Agus, a volunteer teacher who was teaching children in front of SMPN 1 Kenyam. A newcomer to the area, Mr. Agus dedicated himself to finding school dropouts and encouraging them to return to learning, even if only through the informal school he had independently established.
The Commander of Satgas Yonif 503 Kostrad, Lieutenant Colonel Infantry Ahmad Basir, emphasized to the soldiers the importance of inclusive Social Communication (Komsos) with all community members in the operational area. Following this directive, the soldiers of Satgas Yonif 503 Kostrad demonstrated tangible actions by distributing basic reading books and stationery to the children. This assistance was intended to support the quality of education and to aid Mr. Agus in delivering learning materials to his students.
“Thank you to Satgas 503 for providing books and stationery. This assistance will greatly help in accelerating the children’s understanding during the learning process,” expressed Mr. Agus gratefully. “With this support, we hope the children will be more motivated to study and achieve their dreams,” he added with optimism. Mr. Agus also conveyed his hope that programs like this would continue to support education in their area.
“The initiative of Satgas Yonif 503 Kostrad to conduct Komsos and distribute books and stationery to the residents of Kemali is a concrete form of the TNI inclusive approach in engaging with all community elements, aimed at accelerating development efforts in Papua,” said HABEMA Commander Brigadier General TNI Lucky Avianto after receiving the activity report.
